To be held on February 25 (Monday) at the Grand Hall of the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, Fur Gala is a highly anticipated event to many. This year, under the presentation theme ‘Sensations’, 19 furriers will present their spectacular collections in five scenes: Structures, Stylish, Splendid, Sophistication and Smashing, illustrating the ingenious quality and modish style of ‘Fur by Hong Kong’ which is now well recognized worldwide. To be under the spotlight are bold ensembles, playful designs, edgy city wear and opulent evening varieties which all fit perfectly into the wardrobe of today’s women. Impeccable workmanship gives a whimsical twist to mink, swakara, fox and chinchilla, coining new silhouettes, textures and three-dimensional effects. Other materials encompassing cashmere, leather and lace are as well revolutionising fur with lightness and voguish elements. With Russia becoming the major fur market of Hong Kong in recent years, the Hong Kong Fur Federation has also invited for the first time four Russian fashion designers to collaborate with Hong Kong furriers. Their special collections, with creative thoughts from Russia interpreted by Hong Kong manufacturers, will be presented by ballet dancers jazzing up the Gala Show with an artistic debut. As in every year, members of the Hong Kong Fur Federation will join force with renowned designers from the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association in presenting the ‘Designers Love Fur’ collection. From bold daywear to opulent evening gown, the marvelous furry ideas from ten Hong Kong designers will be in the limelight. With tickets being widely sought after, Hong Kong Fur Gala has become the most exciting world-class event in the fur trade. Designers Love Fur Collection
Mysterious and stylish, this collection of cape coats, fitted dresses, short jackets and long coats in mainly black and grey colour are characterized by stripes of studs arranged in different patterns which highlight the style line. The appealing juxtaposition of mink, silver fox, Tibet lamb, karakul and lamb leather further plays up a unique layering effect, while fur tassels add liveliness to the selections.
A sophisticated and fashionable range of tops, skirts, dresses, boleros and mid-length coats in deep violet shades. Sheared mink is treated with gathering technique to create rich textural effect, interplaying with silver fox for a voluminous and deluxe touch. Characterizing the structural look are the bold collars in asymmetrical, stand-up or stand-away designs trimmed from leather embossed in crocodile skin pattern.
Through the selection of colour and materials, this collection interprets the theme ‘Brave New World’ which stands for humanity’s return to nature. Fox, mink, kidassia, xianggao are dyed in blue to represent the irrepressible nature of water while blue denim symbolizes humanity’s desire to conquer nature. With vibes of non-conformity, chic fur coats and jackets are jazzed up by running-water and water-fall inspired styling details.

Belted short and medium coats in fit-and-flare silhouette are trimmed from mink, fox xianggao and Persian lamb, combined with different techniques to create rich three-dimensional impact. Appliques further enliven the collection with a stylish touch.
A sophisticated and elegant range of coats designed for city girls to make head turns in all occasions. Interplaying vertical or horizontal placement of black mink and swakara panels, long and slim coats with fit-and-flare comfy cut are accentuated by collars in different stylish shapes.
An elegant collection which also exudes flair of minimalism and style. Sheared mink, long hair mink, swakara, fox and lace are dyed in mysterious black, mixed and matched vividly in a rich variety of straight jacket, jacket with peplum hem, short coat, coat dress, flare coat and cape coat.

The juxtaposition of fur and various materials: sable, mink and fox in white and beige, and lynx cat are combined with python, organza, lace and metal chains via different techniques, creating harmonious appeal.

Entitled ‘Snowy Comet’, this series of feminine yet modish short and long coats are trimmed from champagne mink and white fox. Contrasting density of different fur materials, the designs feature inlay of fluffy fox patches which highlight the female form. The employment of gold chains further adds styling details with a trendy edge.
Merging the sophistication of the past and the present, this range of medium and long coats trimmed from mink, fox, and sable dyed in warm beige colour come in linear, tapered or slightly flared silhouette. Symmetric placement of fur pelts in different directional pattern adds a lively edge.
Lines and three-dimensional pattern are the focus of attraction in this stylish selection of capes and mid-length coats trimmed from mink, fox, Tibet lamb and Capra hircus in beige colour. Special techniques including pleating are used to create subtle yet interesting braided pattern and applique-effect motifs.
Entitled ‘the New Look’, this collection of coats with big skirt, fitted knee-length coat, floor-length long coat, wrapped coat with hood, and cocoon coat with belt are inspired by the ‘hourglass’ silhouette of the French 50s. Lace embellishment and colour-blocking technique epitomize the dramatic shape and texture of this collection trimmed from grey and beige micro-sheared mink, long hair mink, baby lamb, Tibet lamb, stone marten and cashmere.
Entitled ‘Seduction’, this selection of big capes and tops in sea shell silhouette as well as tube dress are trimmed from fox and mink dyed in lively hues of green and red. While special technique adds three-dimensional interest to the designs, fur leg-warmers and detachable sleeves complete the fun and playful look.
In daring colours of green, purple, golden syrup, burgundy, royal blue to contrast with black, this voguish collection comprises gilets, short jackets, three-quarter sleeved jackets, stole, and coats with drape collars. Mink takes centre stage in the selection, with laser-cut swakara appliques complementing the lightness of the design while colourful fox further enriching textural and visual impact.
A modish collection with intensive colours like blue, green, red and purple taking centre stage. Trimmed from mink, chinchilla and fox, this versatile range of jackets and coats are jazzed up patterns in minute blocks, stripes or abstract motifs to accentuate the fashion edge.
